When Groupe Demain was founded, the company operated a sorting center for household packaging. An UNTHA RS100 was already supporting recycling at that time. The company continued to develop and increasingly invested in processing plants and machines for the economical recycling of various waste streams, including electrical and electronic scrap in particular. Through its work, the company makes a valuable contribution to recycling and helps to return materials to the recycling cycle.

Group Demain, based in France, was founded in 1993 and, as an integration and recycling company, combines social efforts with the desire to conserve resources and promote the circular economy through recycling. The company employs approximately 220 people and recycles over 22,000 tons of hard plastics, electrical and electronic scrap per year.

A RS100 had been in use at Group Demain since 2011 to shred electrical and electronic scrap and prepare it for subsequent processing steps. When the company decided to expand its capacity and invest in two new plants, UNTHA was once again the first choice. In addition to small electrical appliances, large household appliances and hard plastics also had to be shredded.
REQUIREMENTS
High throughput
Shredding of different materials
Feeding by wheel loader and feed conveyor belt

The company opted for UNTHA ZR2400H and XR2000C shredders for its two processing lines. The ZR is used to process vacuum cleaners, fitness equipment, washing machines, and garden tools, among other things. The H-cutting system ensures efficient pre-shredding of the material to a particle size of less than 300 mm. The shredder can process up to 10 tons per hour. Group Demain uses a XR2000C for shredding hard plastics. It is operated alternately with two different perforated screens (40 or 90 mm diameter) to process different materials. Depending on the material and the perforated screen used, the XR can shred 3–14 tons per hour. The C-cutting system is equipped with two rows of knives and has been additionally welded to prevent wear. Both shredders are used as pre-shredders at the beginning of the processing lines. They ensure optimum material breakdown, which enables subsequent sorting and further processing.
We have been working with an UNTHA shredder since 2011. Our first shredder was a RS100. To expand our capacity and recycle more types of materials, we have now opted for a ZR2400H and a XR2000C. They serve as the starting point for our processing lines and do a great job.
