Sunnking Sustainable Solutions doubles capacities

Electronic waste recycling with UNTHA RS100

Sunnking Sustainable Solutions is a New York-based IT asset disposition (ITAD) and electronics recycling company specializing in the reuse, resale, and recycling of electronic waste, serving both residential and commercial sectors. Sunnking efficiently processes large volumes of e-waste while upholding the highest environmental and data security standards. The company relies on the RS100 4-shaft shredder from UNTHA to process large quantities of electronic waste (WEEE). The shredder's throughput, quality of the output material, and reliability were the main factors that convinced the company. Sunnking is advised and supported by the team UNTHA America, Inc.

To increase its recycling capacity, Sunnking was seeking a robust shredder with a high throughput rate that could quickly and efficiently produce a homogeneous output material, particularly suitable for shredding electronic scrap. It also needed to be possible to adjust the speed and torque for process optimization.

UNTHA RS100 – versatile, high-performance machine

"We needed a shredder that could handle our growing volume without compromising quality or efficiency. The UNTHA RS100 has exceeded our expectations, delivering exceptional throughput, reliability, and ease of maintenance. This investment has been a game-changer for our operations. It's durable, flexible, and allows us to process more material faster while producing a clean, valuable output for reuse," says Adam Shine, President of Sunnking Sustainable Solutions.

In 2024, Sunnking invested in the 4-shaft shredder RS100 – a high-performance machine designed to process a wide variety of electronic waste materials. Sunnking integrated the machine into its processing line. The shredder, powered by a 75-foot-long conveyor system, efficiently shreds mixed electronics while allowing for the removal of oversized items, such as televisions and transformers, which require special handling and processing. The RS100 shreds approximately 30,000 pounds of material per day, producing two key output fractions: clean ferrous steel and consumer shred, which is sent to refiners for processing.

"We are thrilled to have Sunnking Sustainable Solutions become part of the UNTHA family and are happy that the RS100 is such a good fit for their operation. The folks at Sunnking have been great to work with, and I look forward to supporting their growth. I love working with the RS100 because, with its easy maintenance and low downtime, it's the perfect fit for many electronics recycling companies", reports Charles Hildebrand, Sales Manager at UNTHA shredding technology America.

Building on the success of the RS100, Sunnking is planning to expand its operations beyond New York. The company intends to establish a standalone facility outside of New York State to serve its customers better and enhance its recycling capabilities. Additionally, Sunnking remains committed to supporting local communities through social initiatives like the 'E-Scrap for Camp program,' which raises funds to help send children battling cancer to summer camp.

4-shaft shredder – the next generation

UNTHA shredding technology's latest engineering feat hit the headlines in the Spring of 2024 when the Austrian-headquartered firm unveiled its advanced generation RS shredder series. The news marked the newest iteration of UNTHA's globally acclaimed four-shaft shredder range, which has continued to evolve since its original launch many decades ago. "The UNTHA RS-class shredders have been contributing to the economic and ecological utilization of many different types of 'waste' for decades. The technology behind these machines is constantly being further developed. The versatile 4-shaft shredders are characterized by various innovations: an even more robust machine housing for a longer service life, adjustments to the cutting unit to increase throughput, and even easier maintenance and servicing," says Peter Streinik, Head of Global Sales at UNTHA shredding technology.
